GNC Lean Shake Review

GNC Lean Meal Replacement Shake Review Rating

I have to admit. I’m a little biased when it comes to GNC.  I’ve always been a big fan of their products, so I’ve been dying to try out .  I had my fingers crossed in hopes that it wouldn’t disappoint.  Here’s my review after the taste test.

PRICE:  A

You can get GNC Lean shakes for about $33.00 online.  That gets you 16 servings, which is about $2.00 per meal.  It’s a steal considering all the benefits that are packed into this shake. So GNC Lean gets a big thumbs up from me on its price.

TASTE:  A+

The great thing about GNC Lean shake is that it comes in a variety of flavors.  Chocolate, French Vanilla, and Cookies & Cream are just a few of the many options, so you’ll never get bored.  I decided to go with more of a fruity flavor — Blueberries & Cream.  Even though it sounds a little suspicious, it was really yummy.  It tastes just like a milkshake and goes down super easy.  It was so good that I’m actually thinking about trying out other flavors too.

APPETITE BLOCKER:  A

This shake has 13 grams of fiber (8 grams of dietary fiber and 5 grams of soluble fiber).  Together that really helps fend off your hunger.  After drinking this shake for breakfast, I literally didn’t feel hungry again until lunchtime.   Although just as a disclaimer, I did mix additional fruit into my shake.  So that may have helped to curb my appetite.  Although at the end of the day, I was still happy with the shake as an appetite blocker.

NUTRITIONAL VALUE:  A-

One serving of GNC Total Lean has 180 calories.  That’s actually pretty good.  Not great, but still pretty good. There’s 9 grams of protein and only 4 grams of sugar.  It also has 20% of your daily value for a number of different vitamins and minerals such as: Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and Copper.  Even though that’s a good percentages for a meal replacement shake, I do wish the nutrient level was a little bit higher.

Overall, the taste, the nutritional value, and the appetite blocker make GNC Lean shake worthwhile.

I have noticed you don’t monetize your site,
don’t waste your traffic, you can earn extra bucks every month because you’ve got hi quality

I was wondering if you have tried comparing 18 shake plan, and Garden of Life Fit high protein for weight loss also?

This tip will often guarantee no starvation and prevent you from eating excess carbs.

It is now obvious to me that your equate nutritional value to how few calories a shake has. Again, your ignorance knows no bounds when delving out nutritional information. You are misinforming your audience by giving an opinion within a category that you don’t fully understand.

Let me guess Shawn…you are an Isagenix representative??

Why review this one instead of the GNC Total Lean 25 which has 25 grams of protein?

  • Dan July 7, 2015, 1:54 pm

Hi Kyle, I would like to know about the amount of sugar per serving in grams. Most diabetics will use these products as meal replacements and sugar is a big problem in many of them.

  • brittany January 28, 2015, 6:15 am

that price is a little misleading, it cost $33 for only a 16 meal supply, while visalus is around $45 for a 30 meal supply, meaning if you want the same amount of total lean, you will be paying $66, not to mention all the artificial ingredients, seems like a pass

The very best meal replacement shake I’ve used thus far is “Phood”, it is 100% natural and organic, it covers all the bases and it very comparable in price.

    Great reviews.
Arbonne shakes are more advanced in all of these areas while also being soy, dairy, lactose, allergen, gluten, preservative free!! I strongly recommend you to look into the company! 🙂

Hi,Could you please do a review of the aldi shakes, they are only
    $2 in Australia!? Thankyou Jo

Just for the record, this tastes wonderful and has a lot of pros, but the deal-breaker for me is the partially hydrogenated oil. Many people are not aware that this is another term for trans fat. I would rather pay more for a shake might not taste AS good, but doesn’t hide HORRIBLE ingredients in a “health” product.

    Thanks for your review.

    Thanks

  • Bridgett June 10, 2014, 9:09 pm

So out of ALL the shakes you suggest this one the most??

    • Fit Girl June 10, 2014, 9:56 pm

In regards to which one was my favorite shake, yes. GNC is definitely my top pick. Granted, there are other shakes that rank higher for cost or nutritional value. But considering all factors together, I thought GNC had the most going for itself.

      • Chris January 2, 2015, 11:16 am

Absolutely not! Lean shake while decent in its ability to assist in weight loss it contains chemical ingredients and most of what is in it is created in a lab, not natural, not organic so therespectfully is far too much variation in the bio absorption. Try and stay away from anything containting artificial flavors, colors or sugar, and find organics.

will gnc total lean shakes help women going through menopause with weight gain

    • Fit Girl June 10, 2014, 9:48 pm

      Hi Leigh,

I’m not sure about the menapause factor, but in general it does help with weight loss. If that’s what you’re going for.

  • Shannan May 13, 2014, 8:18 am

Do you have any idea if the shakes are gluten free?

    • Fit Girl May 15, 2014, 10:42 pm

      Hi Shannan,

Both Visalus and Labrada offer gluten free shake options. And both Isalean and Idealshape claim their shakes are gluten free. Hope that helps!

Your review helped me decide on which brand to go with. I visited my local GNC and they had individual packets for sale. For $3 it was worth it to me to be able to try the shake before investing in the tub-if I hate the flavor I’m not going to use it no matter how good it is for me. Good news is I did like it and I bought both the chocolate and vanilla tubs of the new Total Lean 25. Made a few shakes for far with varying additions and I still like it. It fills me up for about 3 hours. I will probably buy it again.

    • Fit Girl April 27, 2014, 7:41 pm

      Glad it helped, Angela!

What grade of protein is in the GNC shake?
Where does the whey in GNC shakes come from? Organic, free range New Zealand cows?
How much of the GNC shake is bio available?
Do you think GNC manufactures the highest quality product?

    • Fit Girl March 10, 2014, 11:20 pm

      Hi Kyle,

GNC definitely makes a high quality product. At least I’ve never had any issues with it. Unfortunately, I don’t know the origin of the whey. But if I come across it, I’ll definitely let you know.

      • Trista August 2, 2014, 1:55 pm

        Fit Girl,
There are a few major advances in protein shakes that the big companies are not investing in due to cost and raw material testing. Grass-fed over feed lot cattle is a must in order to avoid a GM corn fed animal along with steroids and hormones in the animal. Undenatured whey over denatured whey is a must for live enzymes and digestion. 20+ grams of protein with a full amino acid profile is a must for burning fat and building lean muscle (numerous studies) and a clean fat/fiber content. GNC simply does not offer a product like this but they are out there. I can tell you more if you are interested. Thanks for putting your heart and care into helping others!

I would like to know the best product shakes out there for weight loss

          • September 23, 2015, 3:39 pm

The best shakes that I have found are ️️Shakeology. Yes I’m a beachbody coach but only after I tried a bunch of other shakes. I believe in the product which helped me with weight loss and keeps me full longer. It does cost @$4/day but I was spending more than that at the drive thru.
